We had a little thunderstorm blow through at the end of an extreme heat day here in the Snoqualmie Valley. The lighting after the storm was extraordinary! I attempted to get a good picture of our market garden in the special sunset light, but I don’t think I really captured the beauty of our market garden. Our market garden is currently the crown-jewel of the farm. It’s neat and tidy with a beautiful rainbow of thriving vegetables. We use only compost made on-farm and muscle power to grow our produce! We harvest produce from the garden each Tuesday and Thursday for the markets, and then again on Saturday morning for our weekend farm shop. Whatever doesn’t sell in the farm shop comes into the kitchen for us to eat. I keep the greens in a waterbath on the kitchen counter. This helps me find ways to use my greens in various ways. The waterbath keeps them happy and looking fresh for several days at room temperature – if we don’t eat through them first!
